Step 9
We are getting close. The next step is to 'Die Cut' this baby off it's background. To do this, we will use our handy 'water 2' Channel again. Load the 'water 2' channel as a selection (you should be quite familiar with this by now). Invert the selection (Select>Inverse or Shift+Ctrl/Command+I). Make sure the 'water' Layer is active by selecting it in the Layers Palette and hit the Delete Key on your keyboard. Your 'water' layer will be nicely trimmed on a transparent background. Deselect, (Select>Deselect or Ctrl/Command+D) and we are ready to bring this thing to life.

Just to give you a preview of where we are going with this, let's change the Composite/Blending Mode for this layer. With the 'water' layer active, change the Composite Mode from Normal to Hard Light as in figure 21. Now it's looking like water. Your image should look like figure 22. It's still a bit light, but we'll fix that soon enough.

Change the Composite/Blending Mode from Normal to Hard Light. By using the Hard Light Mode, the pixels in the layer below will be darkened or lighted according to level of pixels in the layer above.
