Step 11
The next step is to give the water a bit more depth by adding a slight shadow and glow. For this we will use Layer Effects. Make 'refraction' the active layer. Open the Drop Shadow Layer Effects (Layer>Layer Effects>Drop shadow). Use the settings found in figure 27.

Next let's make this shadow it's own layer. With 'refraction' the active layer, select (Layer>Effects>Create Layer) and bang! You now have a separate drop shadow layer called 'refraction's drop shadow.

Now we will do the exact opposite for a nice glow effect. Again, with the 'refraction' layer active, open the Drop Shadow Layer effects (Layers>Effect>Drop Shadow), and this time use the settings found in figure 28. Click OK and make the glow a separate layer (Layer>Effects>Create Layer). You now have a separate layer for the glow, which is also called 'refeaction's drop shadow'. To avoid confusion, double click on the new 'glow' layer you just created to bring up the Layer Options Dialog Box and rename it from 'refraction's drop shadow' to 'refraction's glow'.
