Action  #8 - The Peeling Paint Action.

Apparently, this text is going to need another coat.  Please refrain from digging your finger nail into this one and flicking off any more paint.

Believe it or not, this one does have a few useful techniques in it.  I know at first glance this one looks about as useful as the Note Paper Filter run on a picture of your dog, but, check it out anyway.

One of the cool things about PhotoShop is the ability to create multi layer effects that interact with one another as if they were three dimensional objects.  This one creates a shell that exposes the layer below through the paint that has chipped away.  To see the technique run on a larger version of the text, click on the picture above.  Use of alpha channels and shadow effects play a big part in this one.  Only a few filters used here.  Crystallize, to create the peeling paint, Guassian Blur and Emboss for the 3D letters.  Remember, set your History Pallet up to about 100 or so steps so you can go through and view these every step of the way when they are complete.

The font I used here was ITC Souvenir, twisted and turned in Illustrator and then opened in PhotoShop.  Make sure when you use this that you give yourself plenty of room on all sides of the text.

Be sure to experiment with different words, different sizes, different shapes and see how it works.  We hope you enjoy these actions.  Email Us or sign our Guest Book and let us know what you think.  Send us some of your final images.

Have Fun!!
